05Questions
Questions patients ask

Most patients see and feel improvements about a week or two after their first photofacial. However, results from IPL are gradual, building for weeks as your body’s natural healing process continues—stimulating collagen production and clearing targeted pigment. Depending on the nature and extent of your skin concerns, we may recommend a series of 2 to 5 photofacials, each spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. For example, patients with surface-level pigmented lesions, such as sunspots, typically require fewer sessions than those looking to address vascular lesions, which are rooted deeper.
Each session builds on your progress from the last, optimizing your long-term results. With consistent skin care and sun protection, your results can last for years .
At Laramie Physicians Women & Wellness Clinic, we offer IPL and microneedling because they’re both effective, but they excel in different areas. IPL is ideal for targeting pigmentation and vascular concerns, such as rosacea, sunspots, and broken capillaries. For skin tightening & rejuvenation , Morpheus8 microneedling is typically more suitable. Rather than relying on intense pulsed light, microneedling uses tiny needles to trigger skin repair.
These needles deliver pulses of radiofrequency (RF) energy into your skin’s deeper layers to further boost this process. This approach works best for addressing fine lines and scarring as well as improving skin texture. If you’re looking to improve your skin’s tone and texture, we may recommend combining IPL and microneedling to achieve your goals simultaneously. No two patients are exactly alike, so at LPWWC, neither is their care.
In the weeks leading up to your IPL photofacial in Laramie, avoid exposing your skin to the sun and tanning beds. UV rays increase melanin production, interfering with the technology’s ability to target your pigmentation concerns. About a week before your treatment, stop using exfoliants and retinoids, and avoid laser hair removal treatments or waxing , as these methods increase skin sensitivity. However, you are free to shave the treatment area. Following these simple steps sets your skin up for success, maximizing the impact of every photofacial.
While you may experience some redness immediately after your IPL photofacial in Laramie, there’s no true downtime. Over the following week or two, you may notice pigmented spots darken before they flake off. Do not pick at or exfoliate your skin, and allow your body to shed these cells naturally to achieve the best results. Continue to keep the area out of direct sunlight and use gentle skincare products to protect your skin as it heals. Your provider will answer any questions you have about aftercare before you leave our office to ensure you feel confident and comfortable at every stage, but never hesitate to contact us .
