Body composition

The scale can't tell you everything.

Changes in body weight can reflect more than changes in body fat.

That's why body composition, nutrition, strength, and overall progress may deserve attention during a substantial weight-loss program.

Body fat

One part of what changes during a weight-management program.

Muscle / lean tissue

Another part of body weight that can change during weight loss.

Overall body composition

The fuller picture behind a single number on a scale.

Strength

Don't wait until the weight is gone to think about strength.

Significant weight loss can include changes in lean tissue as well as body fat.

That does not mean every patient experiences the same changes, but it does mean nutrition, appropriate physical activity, and monitoring deserve consideration during the process.

Maintenance

Losing weight is one phase. Keeping progress is another.

  1. Lose
  2. Regain
  3. Lose again
  4. Regain

The goal is not only to lose weight. It is to build a better plan for what comes next.

That is the reason the 12-week program exists: nutrition, habits, measurement, planning, and continued medical follow-up.

No program can promise that weight will not return. A structured plan is about what happens after the first phase.

The approach

Medication is a tool. It doesn't have to be the entire plan.

Medication can address one part of medical weight management.

Patients who want additional structure can build nutrition education, body-composition tracking, and local treatment options around that foundation.

  1. Medication
  2. Structured support
  3. Local body composition options
